z_z1
While not specifically about LF gear etc. the most recent issue of this magazine ( http://www.bandwmag.com/index.html )had an ad for someone trying to start a B&W LF users group or some such. I don't have the mag with me right now so I'm kind of sketchy on the details, but it did sound interesting. Has anyone else seen this? I find this mag pretty good for showcasing LF B&W photography. Especially the ads photographers take out themselves at the end of the magazine (while I'm sure many aren't taken with LF, they are still pretty good). Some pretty great stuff. jorge_gasteazoro4
Well we have a traditional photography only users group which includes LF both in B& W and color, unfortunatelly I cannot post the link because it would be "off topic" according to the monitor and the "new" photo.net. So if you e mail me I will be glad to send you the link.
david_goldfarb
Are you thinking about <a href="http://www.apug.org">apug.org</a>, Jorge? It seems like an answer to the initial post, and we have threads about other things on the internet in the LF forum, so I don't see how it would be "off topic". jorge_gasteazoro4
That is the one David, but I have posted an invitation for members to check it out and the "moderator" deleted it because it was off topic and not good for photo.net. I was told I should put a link in the static links page, the one nobody sees...:-)) I am sure these answers will be deleted also. But I figure I would respond to you. BTW these were the reasons Brian M gave me so I am just following the "new" rules and refraining from mentioning "that other site".
z_z1
Thanks for the link, but that's not the one I was talking about. I brought the mag into work today and the ad is on page 22. They are called Foto-Resistance. It almost seems like a stock agency / gallery only dealing with LF B&W. They are based out of Long Island but are looking for international membership. I'll email them and see what I get back. Eric
z_z1
Here is there answer to my request for information. In the ad they represent it as a users-group to promote LF. It appears it is just another persons business model. Below is there reply: > Foto-Resistance...is a group of large format photographers dedicated to the maintaining the classic tradition and philosophy of black & white...we chose this name which we feel, will inspire question and state intent. The group Foto-Resistance has two cooperative photography galleries called "The Light Registry", in the towns of Sag Harbor and Greenport and is extending an offer of membership to other dedicated B&W large format photographers. Membership options vary from belongs solely to the archive to full participation showing at these galleries, and, anchoring a quarterly pictorial publication "Port-Folio". Port-Folio will serve to introduce ourselves, in print form, to potential sources of fine art photo sales and promotion...dealers, other galleries, museums, consultants, collectors, etc.. We will archive up to 50 works digitally at both galleries which will be viewed on monitors in the gallery and accessable to clients who express an interest in your work specifically or your style of work. The web site of "The Light Registry" the name of the gallery and archive, will be maintained with at least 20 of your chosen works, and at you discretion, low res cds can be sent to or given at the gallery to prospective buyers. Along with the digital aspect you can have several of your works physically on display year round, in your own 4-5 or more ...foot space, as an introduction to your style..your own gallery wall... We also intend to network all member photographers to share film, paper, chemical orders...location potentials...swaps....resources, both physical and intellectual. The cost is a one-time fee of $250.00 membership for the inclusion of your work on the web-site and in the gallery archive systems , then approximately $150.00 per year... should you decide to join the gallery group, depending on the wall space available...approximately 100-150 per month for 4-5' of wall, no commissions!! For more information, call me at the gallery...631 725 8045. Thanks for your interest! Gary
