efusco
Sorry for a question I should know the answer to, but I'm a little frustrated. I have a Nikon F5 and use the Ni-MH batteries (MN-30?), setting up for a shot today the battery in the camera showed low power so I swapped it out for my back-up and put the first on on the MH-30. The Green charge light began flashing and I figured that meant it was charging the battery. I put the back-up battery in the F5 only to see that it also indicated a low charge. No problem, I'm in the studio for non-urgent table top work so I pulled it out and put it on the charger as well. The green "charge" light showed a steady (not flashing) green glow. Hmmm, I can't find the owner's manual so I didn't know if the flashing green meant 'charging' or 'done charging'. I think to myself, maybe one of these batteries is having a problem with memory and thinks it is discharged when it's not. I'll just do the full discharge thing with the "refresh" button and charge them up. Well, I pushed those buttons and the first battery showed a flashing orange light on the 'refresh' light and the second battery showed a steady orange glow--just like they did when I was trying to charge them. I then swapped the charging cords, just in case it was something with the MH-30, but the same thing happened with the same batteries. So, finally, my question(s)....what does a flashing green light mean, what does a steady green light mean, likewise the orange refresh light. And, does this indicate a problem with one of the batteries (which one if so)? Thanks.--evan
efusco
The "Refresh" light is green, no orange. The only orange light is the power indicator.--evan
craig_bridge
The battery with the steady green charging or steady orange refresh is behaving. The charger isn't happy with the battery that causes the lights to flash.
efusco
Thanks, Craig, for the response. I'm frankly shocked there wasn't a flurry of response to this question. Can you (or anyone) elaborate on what you mean by "the MH-30 isn't happy with the flashing one"? Is the battery shot, is there something I can/should do? Maybe I need to contact tech support?--evan
