Best Pro Printer

I've been using an Epson 3800 for a couple of years. It's not bad at all, but now the print head is damaged and it is in the repair shop. The bill could be up to $450 or so, depending on the actual problem. So, I was thinking, years have passed, what's good on the market.
How does Pixma (Canon) stand up to the Epson 3880? Or HP's? Or...?
I do large format and digital photography; my prints are generally up to 16x20, mostly B&W but also color on occasion.

The 3880 is great, I upgraded from a 3800, I’m happy. I have a Canon iPF6300, also a very nice capable printer. The Advanced B&W in the Epson’s are great since you mention B&W.
