todd peach seattle, washi
Vivitar 283. There's nothing special about the flash requirements for a Yashica FX-2 that I can see; no dedication or anything. Most any non-dedicated hotshoe flash would do fine. You can do a lot worse than the Vivitar 283. Still available new for a fair price, well over a million units sold (so they're plentiful used), pretty much as much power as you can comfortably mount on top of a camera. Damned rugged unit other than the 'break away' hot shoe (it's designed that way).
Michael R Freeman
Jason I used a Vivitar 285HV (similar to the 283 with a couple of more features - zoom head, variable power) with a Yashica FX-2 for years, and it served me very well. My brother still has the camera and flash and it is still going strong after 15+ years. You really can't go wrong with either a 283 or 285HV for this camera. Lots of power and cheap. Before the days of dedicated TTL flash they were the first choice of a LOT of photographers. Check them both out here: http://www.vivitar.com/Products/Flashes/flash.html Michael
