dshombert
I went to a contra dance weekend in Asheville (NC) last weekend, one of several I go to throughout the year. Fortunately, contra dancing is now drawing in some members of the younger generation. Here's a shot of some of them waiting for the next dance to start. Believe me, when the music starts they have way more energy than you'd think from this photo.

steve_t.1
Hi Everyone! I've been away for the last few months dealing with family related matters (all is well, it was just the quantity and duration of the events, everything else took a back seat). I haven't been posting, but when I could, I was picking up my camera and capturing the view of the world around me. Now things are under control and I can get back to more enjoyable ventures, like putting my new-ish K-5 to work (got it new just in time to start these life interruptions!). To start off, my first shot gives an idea of how long ago it was when I last sat down to process some photos (K20D for the snowy shot). Late April overnight snow along the Mississippi in Minneapolis, melted away by mid-morning.

But here are a couple shots from this week (K-5 and Tamron 90mm macro), a mushroom from my front yard turning out-side-in (very weird, none of the others did this) and some blossoms from my neighbor's front yard. As I was taking the photos in her yard, we talked about cameras and how she used to take photos a lot... with her old Pentax film camera. She brought it outside for me to see, and we found it was still loaded with film, although she had no clue how old it was. I told her to finish snapping the roll and get it developed. "I've thought about a digital SLR over the years..." She went to her family cabin this weekend, with my K20D and Tamron 18-250 in hand. Maybe she'll re-ignite her lost interest. Anyway, a mushroom-

And some blossoms-

I hope to get more images on my blog today or tomorrow, thanks for looking. http://steves-stories.blogspot.com/

htarragon
I went down to my old neighborhood on the Upper West Side of Manhattan and took a few pictures of a very familiar sight - the Soldiers and Sailors Monument. The NYC Memorial Day Parade ends here. I also took a few pictures of the 90th Street Garden in Riverside Park, run by volunteers. If I'm not too lazy, I'll post the whole set in my gallery.
First, the monument
