Tuesday was the first day of summer in the northern hemisphere and hopefully it will bring many great photos this year. Maybe you've been to the lake or had a summer cookout lately, let's see all your summer photos.</p> <p>A few nights ago I heard fledging calls from some Great Horned Owls across our street so I asked our neighbors the next morning if they had seen a nest. They hadn't but they're keeping an eye out for us. That evening they called to tell us that an owl was perched in a tree in their pasture so we went right on over to photograph it. Here is a shot I got from a good distance. I tried to get closer, but it wouldn't let me so I had to settle with this crop. It is actually facing away from me and its head is turned 180 degrees to keep an eye on me. Hopefully I'll get a chance to shoot it again.</p><div></div>

spencer_chrouser
<p>The brightest of all the flamingos, the Caribbean flamingo gets its bright pink hue from the shrimp it eats. When born, they are completely grey and black and later turn the bright pink you see now.</p> <p>There were about 10-15 mounds that the flamingos were standing about, which they had laid their eggs in. The eggs are due to hatch in about 3-4 weeks. Too bad baby flamingos weren't hopping around when I was there. Taken at the San Diego Zoo.</p> <table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" width="100%"> <tbody> <tr> <th>Camera</th> <td><a href="http://www.flickr.com/cameras/canon/eos_7d/">Canon EOS 7D</a></td> </tr> <tr> <th>Exposure</th> <td>0.002 sec (1/500)</td> </tr> <tr> <th>Aperture</th> <td>f/4.5</td> </tr> <tr> <th>Focal Length</th> <td>200 mm</td> </tr> <tr> <th>ISO Speed</th> <td>250</td> </tr> <tr> <th>Exposure Bias</th> <td>0 EV</td> </tr> </tbody> </table> <table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" width="100%"> <tbody> <tr> <th>Lens Type</th> <td>Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM</td> </tr> </tbody> </table><div></div>

woodbyte
<p>Stormy days. This was the tail end of thunder cloud passing by last night. Rumbled and growled alot, but fortunately the tornado sirens were just adrenilin inducing false alarms. Goofed with shot in HDR Efex Pro and Viveza2 before finishing in LR3. I think finally I probably over-did the effects and the result is a somewhat confusing image. I just like the lower left area, reminds me of some kind of huge explosion, like a volcano erupting or similar.<br> Idmkiin and 70-200 2.8 @f8 1/800th<br> rgds,<br> james</p> <div></div>

JamesFarabaugh
<p>I was at Poco Diablo resort in Sedona for a wedding this weekend, where apparently the ducks have gotten used to the guests feeding them. One morning this lady was standing on the patio looking in at us, waiting for her breakfast. I like this sillhouette with just a hint of detail. Just a fun shot, no processing whatsoever.</p><div></div>
