What happened to all of the high-end Canons?

<p>I just recently got the ability to buy an upgrade to my trusty old 5D. I was looking to move up to something better but I cant seem to find any of the 1Ds Mark III or 1D Mark IV in stock anywhere. Any thoughts as to why?</p>

<p>There was an 'incident' in Japan some months back, you may have missed it, but perhaps that has something to do with it? </p>

<p>You can go to Canon's web site, click on newsroom and read the latest updates there, same for Nikon.</p>

<p>The pipeline will refill in a few months or so and prices will stabilize. The Japanese will get it all sorted out much faster than most countries in a similar situation. Meanwhile, enjoy what you have or buy used.</p>

<p>A similar comment (no stock) was made on <a href="http://www.luminous-landscape">www.luminous-landscape</a> recently, both about professional DSLR bodies and lenses. I checked some Dutch websites (kamera express, foto konijnenberg), they seem to have most items in stock. I assume that the out of stock situation is more or less local.</p>
