kl122007
Hi,
I got a Leica Winder M4-2 from an old stock. I put batteries and after I switched to on position, its winding wheel keeps turning without a pause/stop. Is this normal for Winder M4-2? I don't dare to put it on my M4-2 and afraid it would damage my M body.

Thank you for helping,
Kevin
knut_schwinzer
Hi Kevin, this is normal.
This winder is stopped by sheer force of the once cocked shutter/wind mechanism of the camera .
When pressing the shutter release, you will find it bouncing up after exposure. Also normal.
You may also find the front part of the winder housing convulsing in and out. Normal.

This is a quite simple mechanism, there is no electronic control like in the Nikon MD4. All mechanical.
Best,

Knut

paul_neuthaler
Kevin, I had one for some time. Knut is correct. I found this winder to be slow & silly: any of us can wind our Leica more quickly by hand!
pc_b
Wind on, maybe, Paul, but not reshoot in a controlled way - at such speed. These motors are pretty hard on cameras. Because of this, all Ms after the M4 got steel gears.
