george_prescott
MP-
I'm not using the 20D anymore, I bought a 7D last year. But honestly, have you used the kit lens lately? Maybe I have a bad copy, but I've had opportunities to compare this lens back to back to other the 24-105 on both the 20D and the 7D. Not just pixel-peeking but prints, the kit really doesn't compare to the 24-105. Even stopped down to f8 or f11, it's really disappointing. I only use it when I really have to.

George
peter_foiles2
George,
There are three generations of 18-55 kit lenses. The current 18-55 "kit" lens has IS and upgraded optics compared to the original version that came with your 20D. Your negative comments on your version are valid but should not be applied to the current version introduced in 2007. Current 18-55 kit lenses from all of the manufacturers are actually quite decent all things considered.
