Well, it is 12 AM here on the east coast. Happy Mother's Day. Another from the archives. Evening on St Mary Lake, Glacier National Park / Pentax K10D / 16-45mm lens / ISO 100 Click for larger

I was able to get some May flowers in between bouts of wind and rain that threatened to remove the petals and blossoms. Fortunately, it did knock down the pollen count that almost incapacitated me during a model shoot, the previous week.

Yury, very interesting subjects, but it seems the highlights are clipping? The heron (plus reflection) in particular seems to have potential. Bob, another great scene to get us started, incredible blues.

We finally got some warm weather. It's been beautiful for several days now. Winter just might be gone...
Snow up high is going fast and water levels are rising.
K-x, da15
<a title="IMGP9531.jpg by MattB.net, on Flickr" href=" IMGP9531.jpg src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3429/5691919499_639dc32df4_z.jpg" alt="IMGP9531.jpg" width="425" height="640" />
.
Trails are nice at my altitude. Dry but not too dry (yet).
K-x, da15
<a title="IMGP9521.jpg by MattB.net, on Flickr" href=" IMGP9521.jpg src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3563/5691919195_bf169546f1_z.jpg" alt="IMGP9521.jpg" width="425" height="640" />

My brother and I were visiting the Anza Borrego Desert State Park about a month ago. We were there mostly to take pictures of the California wild flowers. However, a strange bird met us near the entrance of the park. My brother had his Pentax K-x with the 50-200mm kit lens. I had my Pentax K-5 and the K-7 as a backup. I had dropped the K-5 a few days before but all seemed to be okay, until I tried to shoot the road runner. The camera would not get in focus, even in manual mode. There was too much back focusing. Lucky for me, I had the K-7 and exchanged the camera quickly. I was only able to take about 10 shots before I heard Beep! Beep! and it was gone.

The truth of the matter is that I wasn't able to capture that wild bird as much as I would have liked to. As for the K-5, Pentax fixed it, but I don't recommend dropping it from eye level to a concrete floor.

So I credit my brother Roland for most of the images below. I shot No. 1, the rest are his images. I used the Tokina 400mm lens and I wish the K-5 would have been used with my now "new" Pentax DA* 300mm". What can one do...like they say, the best camera is the one you have with you.

Maybe an "Acme Corporation" camera and lens would have been better for taking pictures of the road runner...according to Wile Coyote.

Wile Coyote did get the Roadrunner in one episode. He did fairly often but this time it was serious. He had the "runner' in the stew pot, was preparing the accompaniments for dinner, then started to remember all the "Fun" they had together...and then let him go.

The Roadrunner 'toons were central to my relationship with my father as a child. We always spent Sunday morning watching them together. That episode is a particular favorite of mine as, I can still hear my father swearing at the TV rebuking the Coyote for letting the 'runner go using words it's better a child not hear.

"Uh, Dad...it's just a cartoon, it's not real!!???"

Interesting stuff this week gang. It's nice to see flowers and birds popping up again as spring inspries the photographer in us all.

Markus - In your "Friends" picture your cat is quite respectful of your dog's personal space - you can almost draw a perfect circle around the dog using the path the cat is taking. Not a bad idea for humans, either. Of course, cat's and dogs constantly cross human boundaries. It's why we love them.
