mike_levine1
Hi,
I'm wondering if anyone knows how much it would cost to repair an M3 body I'm considering purchasing. Seller says it has a frozen film counter and locked shutter. Right now he's asking about $350.
thanks!
-Mike L
vincent_peri
Right now, Keh.com has several M3 bodies for sale:
http://www.keh.com/Camera/format-35mm/system-Leica-M/category-Camera-Bodies?s=1&bcode=LM&ccode=2&cc=79301&r=WG&f
The cheapest is under $800, while the most expensive is over $1300, depending on condition and whether it's a single or double stroke model.
It seems that repairs can cost up to $400 and you'll still get a good deal.
SCL
You might call Don Goldberg (DAG) or Sherrie Krauter at Golden Touch and see if they can give you a rough estimate on the telephone.

mukul_dube
Don Goldberg, dagcam AT chorus DOT net, did a fine overhaul of my M3 for $300. Shutter curtain replacement will cost more. If this M3 needs less work than a full overhaul, then of course you will spend less. If there is nothing wrong with the finder, then $350 is a good price.
steve_levine
That is a good deal assuming that for a bit over double this amount. You'll have a camera that's good for 20-30 years.

Remember that a used $800 M3 will likely need the TLC of a CLA. So you'll be ahead of the game.
traveler_101
Look at this guy's prices, and most of them have been worked on. These seem very reasonable. Are they less expensive than elsewhere?
