A fine new Wednesday to you, Nikon folk. I'd have posted another dog photograph, and in fact I was in the middle of making another dog photograph out in the field when an apprentice judge at the event I was covering came sloshing up behind me on her horse. One of this forum's recent threads about primes vs. zooms reminded me how glad I was that the 200mm I was using for the dog could instantly give way to the 100mm less I needed to give me room for this rider and her reflection. Had your Nikon gear handy for a shot you didn't see coming? Share a photo!

00YYev-347649584.jpg.cbeb5b465a720ddf3a173a2524383739.jpg

I am posting a simple crop of a flight shot of a wild bald eagle. The keen vision of the bald eagle detected the camera soon after it flew into view as it came over the hilltop. For those interested this nearly mature bird would be about 4 and a half yeas old judging by the plumage. Nikon D300 80-400VR f8 ISO 400 1/1600th handheld.

00YYf6-347653584.jpg.419bfa556b000e7e061332e6066517ec.jpg

Here's one of my favorites from the Renaissance Faire in Escondido, California this past weekend. D7000 with AF-D 80-200/2.8 at 80mm, 1/1600 at f/3.5, ISO 200. Cropped a bit (half a person) off the left side, otherwise a JPEG straight out of camera. Bright mid-day sun sucks for this sort of thing, but it's all I had. Had a great time talking to her, she can do all sorts of great facial expressions.

This past Saturday I was at a friends place and he had turned 90. His entire Family was there and I had been asked to take the Family photo. Luckily it turned out very good. He has a 175 acre farm and raises cattle on it mostly. Right after taking this photo which was out at a barn we had to go past a couple of Bulls that were staring at us. I took their photo as if they were getting a portrait. I am also glad that they stayed exactly where they did.
I used my Nikon D90, Sigma 24-70 @ 70mm, f6.3, 1/640, iso 200, Tripod

D200 • ISO 160 • Sigma 30/1.4 • ƒ/2.5 • 1/160th

The Sigma finally nailed a shot (I was not so lucky today). I was getting ready to take apart the variable valve timing unit on my car's engine on Sunday. 130,000 miles on the beast and it still looks nice and clean inside. Outside, however…

Happy Wednesday! Here are some that work for me: Anura, Tom, Jana, Ismail.

Mine is from an event tonight, for a magazine. I don't think they're going for an artsy thing, so this probably won't make the publication

00YYgH-347683584.JPG.e5114409e506b40216f1f5855b547d06.JPG

This is from a walk in Parc St.catherine (Qubec) yesterday afternoon. It is the first blossom that i am seeing for the year and it took 4 images to get this shot _ I used focus stacking. Matt, Hamish, Jana and all of the others - super images.

00YYgO-347687684.jpg.351df489c5e96b49002178cf6ce7d0b4.jpg

Nikon Buddies,

It's a beautiful day in the Nikon neighborhood; I'm glad to be here. Some shots that make it particularly good are from John D, Tom H, Hamish G, Finlay J.

Mine is of our pink dogwood, whose color is now a bit more intense than it will be when the blooms are full.

00YYgU-347691584.jpg.461753601f837c1622a66dfc9196b0c6.jpg
