fergus_hammond
A friend at work pointed this out to me:

M6 .58 Black Body (Special Edition)

What is this exactly? A LHSA Black Paint model? I didn't think that was made in a .58 version.

Regards,
Fergus
chip l.
I would grab it.... I believe it is priced wrong. There were only a few of the .58 LHSA's made; and I believe they should sell for over $3000 before rebate. I'll have to check our Leica Price list on Friday and let you know. jerry_pfile1
Fergus, Leica made about 60 with that finder magnification in the LHSA black paint M6 TTLs. The LHSA had 5 for annual meeting raffle prizes and I think Rich Pinto advertised a couple about a month ago for the same price if memory serves correctly. At any rate, have never seen it referred to as the M6 0,58J though. Jerry
eliot
As above, it is an LHSA black paint M6 (modelled after the M4). There were about 70 made in 0.58 VF, but there were several thousands of LHSA M6 cameras, so whether it is worth any more than a garden variety 0.72 LHSA is anyone's guess. These LHSAs are still available from dealers, and at lower prices.
fotografz
Actually, the later batch of the .58 versions are factory conversions from .85 LHSA bodies. They are the only Black Paint .58s made, so they may be very rare items 10 years from now.
chip l.
Unfortunately the M6TTL .58 LHSA's are not on the 10/1/02 price lists. I thought I remmbered seeing on an interim price list that that model was more though. Could be wrong. Either way it is a great deal at this time. chris_calabro4
that price is standard with a couple of other Leica websites advertising this model. There is a $500 rebate on this model so it nets out @ 2195
greg j. lorenzo
The 0.58 LHSA M6TTL is the rarest of the three viewfinders and the only LHSA camera not eligible for any rebates from Leica USA. Currently, only the 0.85 and 0.72 LHSA cameras are eligible for the $500 rebate.
