The spring sunshine I've been itching for was almost too bright for a recent session with a young buck of a German Shorthaired Pointer. The morning light was blazing and harsh, and no relief yet from a canopy of leaves in the treelines. But we had fun anyway, and just wallowed in the nearly monochromatic circumstances we found ourselves in. It was great to be out in last year's leftover sorghum crop making Vitamin D and dog photos. Had your Nikon gear out in the sun? Share a photo!

tom_howd

By the Dawn‘s Early Light
: At the river before dawn, the silhouette of a wild bald eagle, performing a treetop landing, was captured by shooting toward the east against a brightening sky before the morning sun had risen over the horizon . (Nikon D300 80-400VR @400mm f8 1/640 ISO 800. PP with ACR &PSE8) A bright, colorful silhouette is a change of pace from regular broad daylight captures of bald eagles. Thanks for looking. thadley
James K - amazing Condo and graphical design; Tom love the eagle landing; All the others are very good also. I shot this one yesterday in Laprairie Quebec next to a partially frozen St.Lawrence river. My fingers were almost frozen when I was finished with this image but the pain only lasted a few minutes after I retreated to the warmth of my car. Tonight the temperature goes down to about 26 degrees F so we are a little ways off from Spring but this image is an encouraging sign of warmer weather in the near future.

liljuddakalilknyttphotogra
I actually made it out with a friend again this last Sunday. Weather was pretty sad, but such is life.... We were however treated to Pied-billed Grebes involved in courting. The male was showing off to his mate who seemed rather uninterested. But he was cute so I couldn't resist spending some time with them.
D300, Sigmonster 300-800mm f/5.6, at 700mm f/8 1/800s.
