<p>Snow is beautiful and romantic if you are properly insulated against it. It can be deadly if you are not. Many evacuees in the quake-hit Tohoku-Kanto region have been facing snow without adequate warmth because of lack of heating oil (for one thing). People have died in shelters and hospitals from cold-related causes like hypothermia. The is not happy photograph, given the circumstance in Japan right now.</p><div></div>

<p>Nice one, Sanford. Alex, thanks for keeping the situation in Japan fresh in our minds. The news agencies are already switching to the 'next' big story in Libya. Meanwhile, there are still people dying from exposure in the affected areas of Japan.</p>
