User_2019667
I just acquired a very nice Leica III. I am not sure how I should adjust or set the slow shutter speed dial when shooting. Any help would be greatly appreicated.
Thanks
John
josh_carr
Always set speeds after winding the film on.

Turn the high speed dial to the speed marked 20-1. Then set the slow speed on the slow dial.

When not using the slow speeds I always turned the slow speed dial back to 20, but I'm not sure whether this is actually necessary.

Note that "Z" is the same as "B" on other cameras, and keeps the shutter open while the button (or cable release) is pressed. "T" leaves the shutter open until you wind the film.

david_barts2
You might want to see if Mike Butkus has scanned the manual for your Leica III, or something close to it:
http://www.butkus.org/chinon/leica.htm
I know he has a manual for the IIIf (one of which I am impatiently awaiting the mailman to bring) on that site.
User_2019667
Dave, Thanks for your input also. The instructions on the slow speed dial was pretty much what Josh had advised and it will be very helpful when I get my lens back from having it CLA'd by Gus Lazzari.
John
photo5
David, thanks for the link to Mike Butkus's site. Very helpful, and I paid the $3 donation for his hard work and kindness to get those manuals up there.
