bruce watson
I'm down to my last box of 4x5 Tri-X (TXT 4164). When I went to order more, I found that the new stuff (320TXP) has finally arrived. Prior to ordering, I went to Kodak's website to lookup the new data sheet to see what's changed. And change there is! The old film: http://www.kodak.com/cluster/global/en/professional/support/techPubs/f9/f9.shtml#05 The new film: http://www.kodak.com/global/en/professional/support/techPubs/f4017/f4017.jhtml I use a Jobo CPP2 and a 3010 expert drum. I found with some experimentation that Kodak's recommendation of 8.5 minutes in HC110B at 68 F was right on the money for me, with the old film. The new recommendation for this combination, if I read it correctly, is just 3 minutes! That makes it basically unusable if you want consistent results - the poor-in and poor-out times approach 20% of processing time, which is way too much in my experience. I wasn't concerned when they said "a little change in processing times" but this is major in my book. Clearly the only way to use HC110 with this new film is at a higher dilution. Anyone had any success with this yet?
bruce watson
Opps, my bad. I believed the guy on the phone at Calument. Turns out that this new emulsion has not yet shipped and won't ship for 4x5 until sometime in the first quarter. It is out in 220 though - anyone had any experience with a roll film back and the new emulsion in 220?
