ShunCheung
Robert K., I understand that this thread is getting long. Please read my post above on Feb 13, 2011; 11:16 a.m. I have a link to Thom Hogan's D7000 review: http://www.bythom.com/nikond7000review.htm

where Hogan writes:

The D7000 is going to force me to go back and re-evaluate a lot of lenses. The 18-200mm starts to look more like a mediocre performer on the D7000, as do several other lenses. If you're buying the camera for resolution, you need to look seriously at your lenses, just as D3x users have to.

You can also read the exchange between Michael Dougherty and me on February 2 in this earlier thread: D7000 that much better than the D300? http://www.photo.net/nikon-camera-forum/00Y9Gj
bob_hamilton2
On a side note.......Canon has a number of cameras from 16 to 21 megapixels. Any idea if those users are reporting the same issues as here?
sener
I have been using 18-200mm vr version 1 for a few years with d300. From my experience, 18-200mm gives the best resolution at f/8. Perhaps, the lens can render most details with d7000 when used at f/8.
