hello, i have an old N70/F70, i scratched the focusing screen while cleaning and would like a replacement, other than a donor N70 body, what other camera models/places can i get a used/new replacement screen? i think i've read its a Brite View type iii screen, any other nikon models used these screens? thanks!

The problem isn't the type, it's the size and tab locations, and AF zone engravings for the N70. Really, that's the only screen that will work.

My N70 service manual says it was changed during the run of the N70, so you may need a 1G950-081 or a 1G950-082 (FAA30351). I don't know how to tell which is which, without reading a few dozen pages. But N70 screens have an AF zone and center weighted metering circle engraved on the screen.

N80, for example, uses 1G950-099, which does not have the AF zone engraved in the center, because it uses the 1S999-136 LCD to indicate the different AF zones. N50 uses 1G950-078, which has a smaller AF zone engraving than N70.

And all these screens have a notch, which engages a tab on the holder, and the notch is in a different place on every screen, so even if an N70 screen were physically the same size as an N50 screen, it still would not fit.

As far as a new screen, they cost about $35. A used N70 should go for less than that. ;)
