Mark Keefer
I've was looking to get the 7D but had been seriously talking myself into just paying the extra and getting the 5DII Body as most of my lenses will work on The full frame. But after reading this, I will hold off to see what Canon's 5D3 has to offer next year. Cheers, Mark

markonestudios
Sounds interesting and perhaps not too far fetched, but I'm planning to stay with my 5D2 for several years to come and only plan to add perhaps a 7D as my second body. I enjoy the leverage a dual-format kit affords me...
dan_south
<blockquote> <p>Just wondering what the future holds for the 1-series, with the way the 5D is going.</p> </blockquote> <p>This discussion had me pondering that very point. We have no idea what Canon will do, of course, but in a sluggish global economy, it might make sense to hold off on releasing a large, expensive body and instead release a new model in the highly successful 5DII's price point, i.e. upgrade the model that keeps eating Nikon's full-frame lunch.</p> <p>I could be wrong and probably am, but I do see the justification for delaying the next 1Ds camera until the global economy picks up a bit.</p>

scott_ferris
<p>Another nail in the coffin of DXO <em>"....DXO Mark lens and sensor tests. I used the 85 F1.8 (the highest resolution Canon lens they have tested)...."</em> That has to be a joke? Compare the <a href="http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/products/cameras/ef_lens_lineup/ef_85mm_f_1_8_usm">85mm MTF</a> to any of the telephotos, the premier performer at the moment would be the new <a href="http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/products/cameras/ef_lens_lineup/ef_400mm_f_2_8l_is_ii_usm">400mm f2.8</a>, but pretty much any tele from the last two or three decades will easily out resolve the 85mm.</p>
