Greetings to all, and best wishes for a Merry Christmas. Great photos as always. This was taken this past Saturday. Unfortunately no white Christmas for us in Nova Scotia, as what little dusting of snow we did have has rained off, with more rain in the forecast for the balance of the week. Bummer! :)

Andrés Arteaga -- very nice shot -- well composed, and very nice use of selective focus. it's tricky to make a photo work where there are out of focus elements in front of the focus plane. good job! Feliz Navidad to you!!!
Paula Wang -- brilliant light!
Mikhail Ysypkin -- great dog shot, you humble me!
Ian Griffiths -- I love it!
Ray House -- brilliant portrait
Barry Fisher -- great light and a great expression/pose/moment

Thank you very much for your nice comments Allan Armstrong. I had just finished serving it when I took the picture. Very low light conditions from the window next to the table, but somehow I managed to get it done, even with my dirty hands :D playing a little with the three plates, the focus and the table.
Merry christmas to you all!

Fellow Nikonians,
As Matt Laur mentions, in the Winter solstice there is not much time for daylight photo, even in the Southernmost countries of Europe. In the Carmo Museum, in Lisbon, we have to light up at about 5pm, but the ruins of the old church, destroyed by the Great Lisbon Earthquake of 1755, that houses the oldest portuguese Museum gain a very special atmosphere.

00Xtto-313865584.jpg.902b7e7c561007c0b1e882893b25bceb.jpg

Happy Wednesday to All! As always, a fabulous array of work by everyone. I mentioned quite a few months ago that I was hoping to acquire a couple strobes to start trying my hand at some studio lighting. Well....I finally took the plunge! Though I had my eye on AB's, I decided to give the Elinchrom BXRis a go. I have to stay I was very very very hesitant (perhaps intimidated is a better word!) but overall, for my first attempt I managed to muddle through *somewhat*...I certainly have a huge learning curve ahead of me but oh wow - this is gonna be FUN!! Now to order a much needed meter!

00Xtyc-313919684.jpg.740345fee903c449561ae22177909bfe.jpg
