Overall dimension of a Schneider 90mm f8

<p>Having found two SA 90mm f8 elements (no shutter) I have modified them from Copal 00 to Copal 0.<br /> I measured an overall distance of 82mm but suspect this is slightly too much. Does anyone have this dimension?<br /> The lens throws a nice sharp image, but I suspect the corners could be better.<br /> Cheers.</p><div></div>

<p>Scheneider lists the overall length in a brochure dated 1987 as 74.9mm. Seems way off from your measurement. Mabe the barrels have changed.<br>

Someone who has an actual lens should actually measure theirs. </p>

<p>B+H list one at 3.2 inches which is 81.28mm... I just need a reasonably accurate measurement before finalising the rear element's adapter! </p><div></div>

<p>Well, there must be a couple of different versions out there. I have a Schneider SA 90mm <em>f-</em>8 (serial # 14,653,764) in Copal 0 shutter ... that measures 74.6125mm from end-to-end ... but both ends appear different than your photo.</p>

<p>Schneider Kreuznach Super-Angulon 1:8/90 5756551, Synchro-Compur 00 shutter: 3.159 inch/80.24mm front barrel outer edge to rear barrel outer edge. Front barrel 4 1/2 turns from thread start to tight; rear barrel 4 1/2 turns +5⁰~10⁰from thread start to tight. </p>

<p>Caliper parallel to centerline of lens/shutter with edge of caliper just touching the barrel edges.</p>

<p>WOW! Thanks Charles, you're a legend. I figured that my measurements were close due to the sharp center image. Another 1.76mm off the back element and I'll check the results. Thanks again for the info.</p>
