eric_arnold
you guys were supposed to make this easy for me. (sigh)

oh, well. i've already ruled out the LX5. i havent completely ruled out the GF1 though--maybe next round. depends on how good the TL500's IQ is.
lisa_lowden
guys, i think the af is pretty fast. if you want samples go to the samsung forum on dpreview. you wont be sorry. maybe later i will post some indoor samples. you should also do a search of the many positive reviews of the ex1 on the net. ll
eric_arnold
lisa, i have seen some of the web reviews, that's what tipped me to the tl500 in the first place. one thing which is worth noting is that the tl5000 has already had two firmware updates, and some early reports on the nikon say its buggy. also, the p7000's price is likely to drop, the longer i wait--it's already at $450.
lisa_lowden
in those cases i think you should get both. ex1 for low lite and wide angle and p7000 for reach or zoom among other things. but i tell ya the ex1 is one sweet cam. im not the least bit interested in the g12 or p7000 even if i could afford them. ll
jgredline
I will only say that I love my LX-5. :)
http://www.flickr.com/photos/jgredline/sets/72157624972355191/detail/
brian_goodman
I really like my LX5 also. I also have the TL500, and go out and shot landscapes a lot with both of them around my neck, shooting the same scenes with both. The one I like best is the one I'm shooting with at the time :)
The main things that I have noticed shooting with both at the same time.
The LX5 has better dynamic range.
The Tl500 has better manual controls. Smooth.
The LX5 has better IS. One or two stops better.
The Tl500 raws are more DSLR like.
The LX5 writes the raw file twice as fast as the TL500.
The TL500 has the better screen.
Both have retired by G10 and S90.
Both are fun and effective tools.

http://www.photo.net/photodb/folder?folder_id=983838

brian_goodman
"Brian, nice photos! Do they (LX5 and TL500) take the same battery?"

Thanks Leslie. They certainly do not. If you mean the LX5 and LX3?. They also don't.
leslie_cheung
The question is, then, is the TL500 and LX3 battery the same? They modeled the TL500 after the LX3. I am a LX3 user split between the LX5 and TL500. The same battery might just tip me over as I'm a traveling, "most in the least" type shooter. I know the LX3 and LX5 use different batteries...
lisa_lowden
i checked the batteries are different. different voltage and number of contacts. ll
leslie_cheung
Well, that's no good. Looks like I'll wait until the fuji X100 then decide though the recent Sony A33/55 do looks great on spec. Hilarious, I could of never imagine myself choosing from a Panasonic, a Samsung or a Sony a couple years ago...

jgredline
Leslie, Heard that as well, but I am pretty much dead set on the Fuji. :)
eric_arnold
javier, how can you be 'deadset' on a camera that's not even out yet?
jgredline
Eric,
Based on my past history of owning many Fuji cams and having read as much as I can on this particular one, it is a cam I must have. Call it an Antojito :)
