andreas_thaler1
Just have got my New F-1 and I am busy to explore it ...
When I release the trigger in bulb mode the following happens:

shutter closes

and after a very short but noticeable delay the mirror returns to it's home position

The same delay is observable when triggering the camera using the longer shutter speeds (8 sec. up to 1/8). With the shorter speeds this delay is not noticeable.
Comparison: My T-90 does not show this delay > closing of shutter and mirror returning is one syncronous process.
Can anybody who ownes the New F-1 advise if that is a bug or a feature?
Lou_Meluso
You might have a sticky mirror pad. Look at the mirror, with the lens removed, and see if there is any pad residue on the front edge of the mirror. Observe the mirror when firing the shutter. If there is any sticking, it should be apparent.
andreas_thaler1
Louis thanks for the hint. Indeed the mirror pad is dissolving and sticky. But - regarding the mirror - this should affect not the longer shutter speeds only but the shorter ones too?
sfcole
It may affect the shorter speeds, depending on the speed. I had exactly this problem, and had it serviced at KEH. No, it's not a feature....

andreas_thaler1
Mark, if so than I would be really happy because the replacement of a simple mirror pad (and light seals) is an affordable repair ...
