geoffgp
I have an FDn 70-210mm f4. At infinity, the infinity mark on the focus ring doesn't line up with the orange infinity mark although it focuses @ infinity in camera. Is this normal for this lens?
Thanks Geoff

awahlster
You see the L shaped line on the distance ring just before the infinity mark? That is the range of infinity focus. Canon (as well as other makers) designed in the ability to focus past infinity on most long lenses to allow for changes in the lens from direct sun light or high temps causing the aluminum to expand.

On my 500mm f4.5 S.S.C. the L line is almost .5" long!
