mark_jacobs1
Has anyone done any testing with the dual sided glossy ink jet papers available? I'll be printing from an Epson 1270 and only printing color photos. I currently use colorlife for glossy prints, but of course that is not available in double sided sheets. In hopes of saving some money, any suggestions on some papers that you have found to be good quality (or bad for that matter) would be appreciated! The only semi-gloss I've found listed is the Mitsubishi Artist Dual-Sided paper. It's inexpensive enough to pick up a pack and give it a try, but any other suggestions? What I'd like to do is make some calendars to give as Christmas gifts this year. My thought is to either find a good quality glossy double sided paper, or use Epson's heavy weight matte (which I already know I really like) and laminate it. I have no experience with laminating prints so maybe that's not even a good option to consider. The only reason I singled out semi-gloss is because it seems with Epson paper, the Colorlife semi-gloss is the only one that can stand up next to heavy weight matte in terms of a vibrant colors (in my opinion). Any ideas?
pcnilssen
Here in Norway, we can get double sided glossy paper from Kodak as well as Hewlett Packard. Maybe not the ultimate quality, but good enough (and sensibly priced) to try. Good luck! Regards,
lwg
For calendars that are just for gifts or your own use you could just use plain copier paper for the actual calendar part. This way you can run all of the calendars through a laser printer. You then just interleave the plain paper with your glossy print outs. Since they just hang on the wall the only time you notice this cheap approach is when you change the month. I have made calendars this way for the last two years because I couldn't find a double sided matte paper.

If you are using your 1270 I would avoid glossy paper as I have had some cards I made fade after 6 months on glossy paper. The calendars I made on Heavy Weight Matte Paper still look good after 10 months. If you really want gloss with this printer then I would try laminating the HWMP (never tried it) or try Color Life.
