thomas_janik
I have CS4 on an i7 with 12 GB RAM, Windows 7 (64). I opened a 1.4 GB, layed PSD image in Bridge. Photoshop launched and revealed an image which consisted of a red horizonial bar in the top quarter of the screen, the rest was black. I closed both programs and relaunched Bridge. The thumbnail shows the original image for a moment and then transforms to the red and black. Anyone have any experience with this and advice?
Thanks
brad_smith8
The thumbnail you view is separate from the original file. It sounds like the original got corrupted.
thomas_janik
Thanks for the reply Brad. I can't imagine why the original has problems. I've never seen anything like this, even though I often work with large files. I usually save as a TIFF, I will avoid PSD in the future.
brad_smith8
Hopefully you have a backup to fall back on (or the original). I save to PSD all the time without issue, you kind of have to when splitting up editing sessions.

Are you on the 11.0.2 updated version of CS4?

The free program Irfanview can open a PSD and save to many formats, maybe it's worth a try.
