Alex
Today I made a ring flash/beauty dish out of a 9" shiny mixing bowl to attempt lighting for macro such my eye. I was pleased by the first effort but not 100% I noticed that my eye reflectec the whole dish covering alomost my entire pupil. So the black circle that you see is the actual lens surrounded by the actual dish.
The question is. What would you recomend to eliminate/reduce the effect of loosing the pupil to this kind of photography? The camera was set to manual Speed @125th iso 400 F13 and the flash was a canon 580EX set on ETTL +1/3.
Thanks for your imput.

williamlewisphotography
Set your 580 to manual. When you use ETTL the flash will fire off a pre-flash to meter by, and that will cause the pupil to shrink.
kevin_delson
If you are speaking about the visible aspect of the ring flash; nothing.
Ring flashes are not suited to this shot unless you get it off the camera.
