Nikon Wednesday Pic 2010: #32

Hello, Nikon People, and a happy Wednesday to you.

A recent early morning found me down on that tiny spit of piled up stones that is the bitter end of Thomas Point, looking out into the Chesapeake Bay. A few patient guys were trying their hand at bringing in that local speciality, the rockfish. The size of the lure this gent is using will give you a sense of just how big a fish he's hoping to land. I was just happy to be able to shoot without that lure whipping through the air and catching my hide. What did you and your Nikon gear reel in this week? Share a photo!

00X2xv-267843584.thumb.jpg.01a061be79b122c56e05ac2cc576f85d.jpg

Happy Tuesday evening from Seattle! Back in the swing of things in the city. This is from a recent shoot. Good friends of ours wanted me to photograph their one year old daughter...who wouldn't jump at the chance to capture this face?

00X2y4-267847684.jpg.b5cebd35f7a5cae21d7d110213f5f414.jpg

It's pouring rain here in south west Victoria, Australia - 12 hours today of non stop precipitation. Have not seen a wet winter like this for 10 years............ This is a drainage dam at the lower end of a cropping field, the dam was empty three years ago.......... and now look at it! This image taken approx. 30 min before sunset on a still but very cold winter's afternoon.

WedNEsDAy PiC #32 The junior Australian Rules football codes are now in finals mode. The best players and umpires are now on display. The quality of the matches has escalated as players try to push their teams into a grand final. And the individual efforts are more spectacular.

Unfortunately, there is a bit of motion blur in this image, although it is hard to notice that in this small JPEG. Oh yeah, since I have told you, I am sure everybody can see the motion blur now. :-) I think the problem is more like this little girl moved a little. I should have used 1/60 sec or 1/125 sec and boosted the ISO. It was late in the evening and I used a bit of fill flash.

00X2yV-267857584.jpg.e2683cd2807da275044fcb46bc19cdbe.jpg

Scrambled to get the camera when I noticed the fabulous sunset last night. Sure wish such moments would last longer as it might have provided me more time to fiddle with the settings - Nevertheless, it was a lovey view and worth the soggy socks and feet I ended up with in my haste to get out on the wet deck for a couple of shots :)

00X2z3-267871584.JPG.5a0d36a6b7afb3300b3987cee1bb0b48.JPG

Hello Everyone..
My photo this week is again from my trip to Stockholm two weeks back. Although the weather wasn't great, I made the best of what I had and took this photo in between the spell of heavy rain showers that evening.

Hi everybody. Had my son on my shoulders in the Sears parking lot and caught this, aiming from my chest and relying on those fickle gods, AE and AF.... (And Matt, that rockfish is what we call striped bass up this way, yes? I'll be out after them at Cape Cod in two weeks, inshallah.... )

Hi everyone,
Last week the hot summerdays let us down here, lots of cloudy, rainy days, but evenso I went to the beach everyday after work. Instead of my usual wide angle I brought my 180mm this time. Weird how the compression effect of this telephoto lens makes the industry in the background look so close (it's actually about 10 miles away...).
The sign in the middle indicates the start of the nudist beach; you wouldn't recognize this place if this shot was taken with a normal lens on a sunny weekend day :-)

00X304-267883584.jpg.175bde8c8d9905ed6ec7557039b51929.jpg
