ShunCheung
I have never used the Canon 24-105mm/f4, but that is more like an event/wedding lens. Any zoom with a 4x+ (4.37 to be exact in this case) is going to involve some significant optical compromises. Likewise, the version 1 of the Nikon 70-200mm/f2.8 AF-S VR is also an event lens and corner performance @ 200mm is poor.

If you are really seirous about landscape photography, consider the 24mm/f3.5 PC-E lens as I mentioned earlier. Since it is a tilt-shift, it has an oversized image circle so that corner performance on the FX-frame is excellent, provided that you are not tilting and shifting. The more T/S you use, the farther edges of the image circle you will be using and you will experience quality degradation. Should you choose Canon, they also have similar T/S lenses.
