Voigtlander Repro-Skopar f3.5

<p>Hi All,</p>

<p>I discovered one of these in a box of photo "stuff."</p>

<p>It's an odd looking thing with no aperture setting and the mount is some sort of a thumb screw to clamp on to another lens.</p>

<p>It looks like this:<br>

I believe it is for a "Prominent" rangefinder, although how you use a macro lens on a rangefinder is beyond me.</p>

<p>I cannot find any for sale on the Large Auction Site. Are they sought after? Not having a Prominent rangefinder it is surplus to requirements.</p>

I don't know this lens or what it'S used for, but there were kits to use close-up lenses on RF's as well as focus factor sheets etc! It can be done! Although the term Repro seems to imply "reproduction" like maybe a slide copier etc Check out

<p>It may be for a close-up attachment, the sort where the camera is held on a stand with a sliding or swinging focus screen that the camera replaces for exposure.</p>

<p>Mainly I am wondering what to do with the thing. It seems unusual and should go to a good home.<br>

Of course if it is worth anything it would be a welcome addition to my darkroom fund.<br>

I explained to my wife that cameras were like cats, sometimes they just needed to find a good home and sometimes that home was my home. :-) She must have been in a good mood - she agreed!</p>

<p>I guessed there would be a reflex housing, but haven't seen one for the Prominent before now.</p>

<p>It has its own special reflex housing. You can see it behind a Prominent II on this page :<br /> <a href="http://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/2668255">http://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/2668255</a><br /> As nutty as I am about my Prominent, I'd save my money for another body as backup. Can't see how much use I'd get from that lens.<br /> I'd guess the Repro-Skopar is worth <em>at least</em> a few Franklins in excellent condition ( without reflex housing ).</p>
