Great stuff everyone.

Particularly caught my eye:

1) Steven Ford: Fireworks
2) Brett Higgins, Channel Island Sunset
3) Michael Mixon's baby boy (Congratulations! he's gorgeous!)

I'll be back later in the day to see what the night has unveiled!

Hi Nikoners,
Feel like I'm lagging behind most of you, really needing to get my head back into this. So many wonderful images over the past few weeks. This is my offering to the fun this week. a little post processing in ViewNX to lift the colour and try and re-create the brilliant sun that was shining.

My grandfather's lilies...they are planted in many homes, in many towns and cities through out MA, CT, VT and NH. They make me smile and remember the good times he and I had together growing up. Happy Wednesday to you all...

00WohX-257709584.jpg.024bdfb59bb1c7d81d191533c949f559.jpg

My laptop power cable shorted out a few weeks ago. Fortunately, someone happened to be in the room when a puff of smoke rose from behind the desk. A reminder to keep my backup drives off location.

00Wohe-257711584.jpg.e334bbec629fc6f5db268c6212f59ca4.jpg

Hello everyone..
Hope everyone's doing great :)
I've finally managed to get a few photos processed from my trip to Barcelona last weekend, so this is for you Alejandro - from the grounds of Nou Camp!!
Btw I support Milan and although Nou Camp is not San Siro, it was still a nice experience :)
I forgot to change the settings on my camera once I came out to the grounds, but managed to fix the photos on Capture NX2 and stich them on Autopano later.

00Wohs-257715584.jpg.a1a8b1b593e38e50129b76f2401eac5a.jpg

Last Saturday, my wife and I went to the California coast to photograph wildlife. Unfortunately, we found not much to shoot in an area where we had plenty of opportunities in the past. So we ended up photographing some paragliders instead. By 7:30pm, we were about to leave (since the paragliders had left), and then I spotted some nice sand dunes. While I was photographing that, I saw this little boy running up the hill.. I was hoping that he would get a little further, but he suddenly turned around and went back to his parents. I only got a couple of frames.

I haven't been active here lately since it's summer, nice weather and all sorts of activities going on. Nevertheless, I've taken some photos.
This one is not a great shot, but I like the mood of it; taken past 10 PM with the sun down low behind the trees, the horse was curious about me.

00WoiD-257725584.jpg.114278adc54bbaa42c46066d598f0582.jpg

Happy Wednesday, and thanks for your comment last week.
Another insight into life in the Orient: playing Tavla (Backgammon) is part of the daily public entertainment for lots of men. It's typically played in coffee houses, and the social factor is high.

Happy Wednesday!

I attended a wedding last weekend in Eastern Finland - not as a photographer, but just as a guest. Had my camera with me anyway and came home with few nice shots (didn't shoot the actual wedding much, but shot everything else during the trip :) ). This one is a view from the place where the wedding reception took place.

Hello everybody,

I've not posted on this forum for sometime, though I did regularly visit the "Wednesday Pic" postings every week .

As usual, most of the pictures today are exceptional. Amongst those that really captivated me are:

Matt Laur - I keep going back to this image. You have really captured the "love" here. Wow!
Greg Kowalczewski - Impressive. Where did you get this picture? I believe these are nocturnal birds & sort of rare.
Michael Mixon - Quite a sensitive portrait. Congratulations!
Jennifer Meighan - Good picture. Was this a studio shot?
Ton Mestrom - Wow! strong definite expressions from all the subjects. Arresting.
Dieter Schaefer - Love your picture for the surreal colors. HDR has made the picture soft (is it deliberate?)
Shun Cheung - The patterns in the sand contrast quite well to the featureless sky. Running boy adds a compelling interest.
Janne Kaakinen - Your picture imparts a feeling of calm. It's very good!
I shot this river last week. We have rains in our State now - good time for some pretty photography. This was my first outdoor outing with my new 24mm PC-E F/3.5 Nikkor. This lens is really something. I have not changed the orientation of the Tilt feature (which is desirable for Landscapes).
Please keep up the pictures coming in - Wednesday really perks me up.

~~ Issac Sam

00WojN-257741684.jpg.459d70a4c0f6bbbfa212cecf1daac27c.jpg

Wonderful photos! I found this Gulf Fritillary getting some shelter from the rains associated with Hurricane Alex this past week. They normally are pretty active, so was fortunate to find one a little wet and resting. Full shot, no crop; taken with D90/Sigma 150mm/Sigma 1.4x teleconverter/SB 600 diffused @ 1/125, f/11, ISO 320.
