avishek_aiyar
Hi,
I recently acquired a Zoomar Makro Kilar 90mm and a Pan Tele Kilar lens, both on what I think is an Arriflex mount. But, Kilfitt lenses have interchangeable mounts.
I want to adapt it my Nikon D200, but I have all but given up on finding a Kilfitt Zoomar Nikon adapter.
I wanted to know if its possible to use a combination of extensions rings instead? If so, what would I need to mount it to the Zoomar end? and how can I retain infinity focus if the above is possible?
I would appreciate any information, since I hardly found any detailed information on the net.
Thanks and regards.
Avi

Jerry_
A Nikon mount is what you need: suggest finding a Tamron auto-focus 90mm f2.5 Macro lens in a Nikon mount and you will have a lens that will work just fine on your D200 body. The Zoomar may or may never work right on your camera...if you want the metering to work, let alone the auto-focus problems you will face.

...your money and your choice of lenses.

luis_g
Try to find that mount. Renowned corporate photographer Jay Maisel used to use one of those 90mm Macro Kilars long ago, back in the late 60's and 70's. While they might not score high on an MTF chart, I had a chance to look closely, first-hand, and large prints made form these lenses, and they were superb in their own way.

thomas_vaehrmann
Hi Avi,
some Kilfitt-lenses have LTM and were used on Visoflex or Kilarflex-houses with Leicas. If your lens (at least the Tele-Kilar should) have this mount you can use a Leica E39 (aka LTM) to Nikon-adapter and some extension rings. With most Visoflex-lenses adapted to Nikon you can retain infinity as close-up as well.

kind regards
Thomas
avishek_aiyar
Folks,
Thank you so much for all your replies. I just pinched a Zoomar Pan Tele Kilar 300mm for about $170....I have more information on the adapters if anyone is interested.
For Nikon F mounts, the correct adapter is either a WENI or a WE+NI or WE+NIN adapter.
CPM....the one Pacificrim is selling is a KILNI adapter and thats for a Kilfitt KI mount lens, which has an LTM........thats ok for earlier versions of Kilfitt lenses as Thomas mentions. Later versions and Zoomars DON'T have an LTM......
Besides, $130 is daylight robbery......so I am going to play the waiting game....
Avi
