personalphotos
Well it's just past midnight on the East Coast and I thought I'd start us off for the week. A couple of PEI scenes taken around sunset. I was invited to exhibit 3 photos at a local gallery for 6 weeks. The theme was flowers and blossoms. Unfortunately I don't shoot flowers that often. I was asked last minute and given 24 hours to get something together. So while shooting the flowers, I took the following 2 and the the last was one of the submissions. Should be fun to see what happens. Most of the other submissions are painters or craft people.

jgredline
Here is my first. I was pondering this mural when this fellow went walking by. I took a quick snap with out much thought and It turned out I liked it. Funny thing to me is that is this fellow would not have came walking by, I would not have even made the picture.

michael_elenko
Our youth baseball season ended on a 3-2 victory today (Saturday), bringing the Avatars’ first-place record to 12-4.

As the coach, my pride rests on their integral teamwork, sportsmanship, and joy of the game. All of our opponents tried to ride their handfuls of big kids to success. In contrast we were lean, fast, and smart (three of the four state math champions are teammates), so we emphasized strong defense and solid decision making, accurate pitching, and timely hitting. We ended up securing three shutouts (even one is rare at this level), making two bang-bang outfield-to-2B putouts on runners, and hitting a grand slam HR. Over the season we received 142 walks while giving up only 40, an average of 2.5 per game. What fun!

This is our “unofficial” team photo taken within the past week using the K20D and my workhorse Tamron 17-50mm f 2.8. A parent who is a career video editor posted a “<a href=" of the team picture” clip on Youtube (it’s 2010, I’m not supposed to be surprised) that does outline my approach to the shot (though I had earlier tested lighting angles and backgrounds) and shows the tools somewhat. Definitely not required viewing.

League Champions

ME

personalphotos
Great start this week.
Matt, looks like the lens is a winner. Very nice macro with the backlight. Looks sharp too.
Javier, Hard to pick a favourite. All are excellent. I think the mural is the best. He blends into the scene and then you notice the feet. Cool.
ME. Fun video. It will get a ton of hits with that title. Luckily the shot turned out well with all that production involved. What flash are you using?

Patrick V. The first 2 are very good but the 'whale tail' is excellent. The calm water makes the shot. Well done.

Dorus, Always unique from you. The HDR is a bit unusual and I really like that. Has a somewhat painted quality. Good series.

Ben To this point maybe my favourite image of the butterfly. Sometimes your processing isn't to my taste* but this one works perfectly.
*I'm glad you push the limits though, that's always expands the possibilities for all of us.
htarragon
Went the NY Botanical Gardens and, as usual, the light was challenging. I don't know why, but the outdoor light there is always hard and bright or shade that is on the edge of handholding limits. But, the flowers are beautiful, so one tries:
Lily from lily pond

bob-c
Peter, Ann and I were in P.E.I. exactly 31 years ago to the day. I must have taken a few dozen pictures of barns. I wish I had them today. Of course, none as good as yours. Thanks again.
Matt, nice work with the new lens, congrats.
Javier, love the first one!
ME, always fun to watch a Pentaxian at work. The video is hilarious. The shot is even better, however. Congratulations on a great season. The kids will remember it forever.
Peter, I think the eagle is pretty damn good as is. I'd be very happy with.
Dorus, all three are well done as always but I really like the first.
Ben, I agree with Peter, nicely captured and processed.
Howard, the lily is beautiful. They are so much fun to shoot and look great when done right.
Dave, lovely portrait. When I first saw it I thought maybe you were in South Africa for the World Cup. But lovely in Baltimore just the same.
With the World Cup going on, photography will take a brief back seat to the one event I look forward to every four years. Thank goodness the school year is over. Here are my three. The first was taken a week or so ago. What I like about it is that it is hand held. The other two taken this past Thursday. Obviously the theme of the week was water.

dshombert
OK, one more from Yosemite before I put a whole bunch of them in my PNet portfolio. This happened high in the sky, early afternoon, while walking up to the Mariposa Grove. So we were at maybe 8000 feet elevation (?). The sky was clear. I am not sure what caused this, maybe it's a sun dog, but it was beautiful. The picture does not do it justice. It was gone when we came back down a couple hours later.
