fergus_hammond
It's sort of a rhetorical question. I know there will be one eventually but the delay is frustrating. I almost always use a 35mm Summilux on the M and I think the 0.58 version is a perfect match. Anyone else like me waiting for the 0.58 model? Perhaps Leica will make an announcement at Photokina. steve_hotchkiss
I think their plan has been to release the (black only) .58 and .85 bodies in November.
Sanford
I have an M7 brochure that list a black .58 M7 part #10505.
wayne_murphy6
I have a current catalogue which lists the 35-70/2.8 R zoom. Leica's website also includes this lens as current. The M7 0.85 was supposed to be available in June. Supply is a joke.
jackflesher
Here is what I have heard from a reliable source: 1) The demand and sales for the M7 have FAR exceeded Leica's expectations, especially given this economy. 2) Because of #1, they have devoted additional production time to manufacturing M7 .72's, which has delayed production and release of the alternate finder magnifications. 3) Since the .85 is/was a more popular VF than the .58 in the M6TTL, Leica is planning to first produce and release those (in November) and the .58's will follow a few (perhaps as many as 6) months later after the initial demand for the .85's has been satisfied. So, it may be a bit of a wait yet for the .58 M7... Cheers,
watts
Seems a bit crazy to have the 0.58 M7 in the catalogue back in the Spring and not start delivering until (what will probably be) next year. I was in the market for a 0.58 M last month and would have sprung for an M7 if it had been available. I ended up getting another 0.58 M6 as the finder magnification was more important to me than the AE offered by a 0.72 M7. I guess the good thing about having to wait another 6 months or so for the 0.58 version of the M7 is that, when it finally arrives, it may be without some of the minor 'bugs' that some users have been reporting.
