curtis_nelson
Sorry for the dumb question, but do I need a special tool or something to remove the lens from my lensboard? The lens is in a Copal0 shutter, and it looks dusty inside (I'm assuming the lens comes in two pieces and that I'll be able to clean the 'inside' by removing it from it's shutter?). Thanks
tony_galt
The front and back of the lens should simply unscrew from the shutter with no special tools. If you want to remove the lens and its shutter from the lens board you need to unscrew the retaining ring that holds the shutter assembly on from the back of the board. It is probably best to use a spanner to do that. However, to blow out the interior of the lens you don't need to do that at all.
tim_atherton2
But WATCH OUT for the now exposed but extremely vulnerable and fragile shutter and diaphragm blades!
paul_coppin
AND, note if there are any thin spacer rings between the elements and the shutter body. They can slip away unnoticed if you're not careful. The lens is optimized with them in place.
