pj_vesterback
Yesterday I shot the local cycling club's first criterium of the season. So far, this was the toughest subject for me to shoot by far. Honestly, it's the very first time I have run into a subject where the K10D's autofocus can not keep up. But I did learn an awful lot now that I think about it. Next time I will do better. Here's a few shots. steve_t.1
Robert C. said- "Steve T., for the record, I prefer the first version. It has more depth and I don't find the first light distracting at all. Just thought I would throw in my 2 cents"

After separating myself from them for several hours now, and revisiting all three, I like the first one better, too. Peter's point is valid, but somehow I feel like that first light needs to be there, and it is drawing my eye down into the photo. Lots of leading lines- the lights, the right side trees, the curb and road... Hey, either way, it sure beats sitting around watching TV!

shots worth sharing
I agree about Patric's last. I wouldn't have suspected that I'd find a photo of cyclists so engaging but there's a lot of interest--vivid color, great sharpness and depth--and they're coming right at me!
jpo3136b
Photo from this morning's triathlon.

Pentax K1000, 35mm lens, EWA Marine UF. 1/1000, f/8, 400ASA. HP5+ at 400 ASA; D76 at 1+1 for 8'30" at 24C.
Digital crop of 8X10 print.
Wetsuit.

I was the only photographer in the water at the start. There were about 20 people with cameras on the shore. After this morning's adventure, I recommend getting in there and getting wet with the swimmers. Get closer. bob-c
SI should be calling soon, John, for you and Patrick. Best sports stuff I've seen in a while here. Well done!
sigmar_dau
I noticed a small abandoned cemetery on a drive today. Both with K200D - the first with the Sigma 70-300 APO DG and the second with the 18-55 kit lens.

dshombert
This is my first attempt at posting a photo, in anticipation of posting some of what I get at the upcoming Yosemite trip. So these are really just a test, which I hope is OK. I like them.

dshombert
Yee haw, it worked. Here's another one. I think this was even taken with a Pentax camera.

pj_vesterback
Dave - that first shot is hilarious. Right on.
Steve T - I pretty much agree with the others. I think you need to leave the light in. It's in a good spot to lead you into the shot. Without the light it, the photo seems too heavy on the right hand side..
julio_cano
Some beautiful pictures by all involved.
I always look forward to reading the POW for a creative sense.
This week I was sidelined by the rainy weather in this part of the U.S. and late week home duties. But for the first time, I finally had a chance to try out off camera flash in my macro pictures. Here goes, this one is simply raindrops on a garden leaf. Learning curve is still high
.
Wood Violet

MattB.Net
Steve T. - very nice. I like the effect too.
robert colameco - I especially like those flowers.
Haig - love the puma
Patrick - I always like to see some cycling!
John O - that triathlon shot is fantastic!

I didn't shoot much this week but I did get this on my ride to work the other morning. It's the gate at our fairgrounds after some spring snow over night. I did not convert to B&W, color is as it was shot.

<a title="Welcome by somedudeus, on Flickr" href=" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4066/4546849621_fff8afed46.jpg" alt="Welcome" width="500" height="332" />
denise_savage
Bring on the creativity.
Steve - I like the first one. You start at the front light and are drawn into the pic, and on the way you end up noticing the surroundings as you go.
Ben - thanks for showing off the Darling Downs - grew up in that area and I love the flat plains.
Others that have struck me this week,
Justin's first shot, all three of Robert's - I like their simplicity, Dorus' transformations, for those who got sports - good on you!
I like the texture of your first shot Julio, and the character of both of yours Dave S, especially the first one - the eyes tell it all.
Two to contribute this week - both sunset on the west coast of Oz from holidays. Funny that since coming home I haven't gotten past the washing pile - maybe that should be a project in photos!

MattB.Net
Denise, your photos make me want to go back to WA! My family is from there originally and those beaches are hard to beat anywhere in the world! The sunset is nice!
steve_t.1
Dave Shombert- that poochy picture is wonderful, worthy of a print and into the family album. Enjoy Yosemite.
htarragon
Don't know why it took me so long this week - Oh yeah, got distracted because my printer wouldn't print on Kodak extra- glossy paper, so I thought I would wait to post when I went to our place upstate to see if the HP would do it. Almost! kept getting the margins wrong. Wasted much paper.
So hear are the non-printed selections for this week:
#1 is a crop of a picture of a chair next to a magnolia tree and a path; I thought the crop was more interesting

htarragon
And third was a mistake that I experimented with. I took the shot forgetting that I had the lens on manual focus so it was out of focus. I added an Impressionist overlay with PSE6. I think it sorta works.
