tzvih
I recently purchased an AB800 strobe. I was wondering how that compares to the following Impact (B&H brand) strobe

VSD300 Digital Monolight - 300 Watt/Seconds (120VAC)

devon_mccarroll
The Impact has a smaller modeling light (100 watts, I believe the AB is 150), and isn't fan cooled. I think you'll be very happy with the Bees.
Charles_Webster
The Alien Bee strobes are also remote controllable either wired with their LG4X Remote Control or wirelessly with the new Cyber Commander transmitter and CyberSync CSR receiver.

I believe AB800s come with a 100w modeling lamp, but it can be increased to a 150w bulb easily.

The Impact lights have a 4-stop brightness range, but have digital 1/10 stop control. The ABs have a 6-stop range but use a slider control for continuous variability.

The AB recycles in 1 sec to full power the Impact in 2 secs.

But honestly, you could have found this for yourself by opening the specs page for each and comparing the specs one by one, as I just did for you. Next time please do some research for yourself before asking us to do it.

<Chas>

tzvih
Charles-

Thank for your help.
Regarding the research, my intent wasn't to have some do the research for me. Rather, I was hoping someone had just gone through a similar comparison and would have the major differences readily available.
frolickingbits
Alien Bees are worlds better. That's all you need to know. You're comparing a strobe with great customer service, a wide range of accessories, and a wide customer base to a junk strobe from a manufacturer of cheap equipment.
