hernan_mascherano
Anybody excited about this new lens? I am thinking it will finally replace my ef-s 10-22 and will complement to perfection my ef-s 17-55 IS, hopefully they get the optics right and also hopefully canon will follow. It will indeed be the widest lens available for APS-C crop cameras.

H.M.
mbkissel
Excited? No, not really. My 10-22 is excellent and does what I need. I'm surprised you are considering replacing your 10-22 with this one.

awahlster
Sheldon excellent use of a Spinal Tap reference in a discussion forum context. 50 points are awarded to the house.

hernan_mascherano
I just think my 17-55 + 10-22 combo has too much of an overlap that has me using my 10-22 mostly at 10mm and when I want more tele I just switch to 17-55 quite often to use at 17mm. If I buy it, now I will get more use of a wider view and at tele-end be at about the equivalent of a 24mm for a still wide but not having to change lens :). I am excited to see how it will compare to say a nikon D700 with a 14-24mm f2.8 or a 5D with Sigma 12-24. It may be a less reason to go to full frame for many people.
james_atria
Has there been any reviews or a price listed yet? At 1st glance I would say it's too slow for me @ 4.5 wide open.

and +1 for the Spinal Tap quote
alan_bryant1
I've used the 12-24 on a 5D and it's pretty amazing. 8mm is significantly wider than 10mm on APS-C. I'll be interested in reviews of the 8-16mm, though I'm not likely to buy it since I mostly shoot full frame. But I do see the point of going that wide.
