andrew_andrews1
Hello,
I have just purchased a Sigma 28mm f2.8 mini-wide from ebay quite cheaply.
I'm fully aware that it is manual focus but moving the focus ring on the lens does nothing to bring the viewfinder image in or out of focus.
There is a 'macro ring' which says macro on it, and then some ratios which I cannot see as they are hidden.
Before I send this back to the seller is there something I am missing that makes this lens focus?
thanks for any help from anyone who has one of these lenses!
Andrew
scott_ditzel1
The focus ring, when turned to focus closer, should make the lens front element extend forward, which in turn will reveal the magnification ratio. This is the way any macro lens works. AFAIK (I have the 24mm mini wide in both AF & MF version) there is no "button" to push...Sounds like your copy has issues, If the lens doesn't work as I said, I'd send it back. Maybe someone tried to work on it & didn't reassemble it properly.
Mike Gammill
Yes, send it back if it won't focus. Normally, the Sigma mini-wide 28 mm f2.8 as well as it's sibling, the 24 mm f2.8 are two of the better independent wide angle lenses from the 1980's.
