t._masp
I've been thinking about experimenting with a superzoom (30x or so) compact camera for long telephoto ranges. It easier on the back and the wallet, though of course you get less image quality. Do any of these cameras stand out in terms of having a wider aperture or other high end qualities? I'm wondering what if there is are any LX3s, G11s or GX200s of the superzoom world or if they are all about the same as long as they give you manual controls and RAW files.
t._masp
Hmm, actually, I think it's more about overall image quality rather than just aperture, since that seems to be what sets the LX3 and G11 apart from the rest of the pack.

bob_sunley
The $12k Nikon 600 f4 lens produces great wildlife images, you aren't going to get that quality on an image sensor smaller than the submit button on this page. A good superzoom lens is about 2-4x the cost of $12k Nikon 600.
