ejchem101
Just wondering how well the 70-200 f4 works for outdoor portraits. To be honest, I have this lens and I just haven't had the opportunity to use it for portrait photography yet.

My current lenses are a canon 17-40 f4, 50 1.8 and 70-200 f4. While I mainly do outdoor sports and nature photos, I would like to get my feet wet with some portrait photography. Will I get enough of a bokeh with f4? I know that the 2.8 could possibly be better for portraits, but that is a lens I'm not sure I'll ever be able to justify.

If you can post some examples of portraits with the 70-200 f4 I would appreciate it!

jtpage

This will make an excellent portrait lens. The 2.8 version of this lens is my main portrait lens, but the f4 wont let you down. You will get plenty of bokeh at f4, especially at 200mm.
Plus, since you already have it, you dont have to take the risk of buying it and hope it works, just get out there and use it and see if it works for you!!
