Well its 9.10 GMT here in London so time to kick things off. Yesterday was a wander round some of the East end of London, namely Brick Lane and Spitalfields Market. Where the Muslim Bangladeshi and Hipster communities meet. There was a cycle polo event in the market, which was a demonstration sport during the 1908 Olympic Games in London (how about 2012 as well).

Spring fever has hit. We have birds, bees, and soon, baseball.

One of our resident hummingbirds has taken to perching atop a beanpole from last summer’s garden. I finally got around to capturing either an Anna’s or a Rufous--I get them confused.

This is a crop @ 100%.

Today we took my wife to a big nursery to pick out some fruit trees for the garden. We ended up getting a persimmon (to match one we’ve had), some gooseberry vines, a goji berry bush, and a medlar. I brought along my inconspicuous *DS & the DA 35mm Ltd. Macro and shot flowers to help pass time. I ran into a half dozen other folks doing the same.

Here’s a tulip--several are coming up outside of nurseries as well.

This week I received a new to me a Cosina 24F/2.8 macro lens (not much of a macro) and was out testing it and trying to learn it. It seems to me that all my 24's act differently...I have also been experimenting with In camera pp and while I am getting mixed results, some good, some not so good and some plain bad, I am having fun trying it...These images are made with the K20D and the 24mm Cosina. I have found that for some reason, I get better sharper results with the shake reduction turned off.. As a result the focal length does not show up in the exif.

A new to my area street performer.

I saw this image form out the corner of my eye and snapped away.

I tried to get this couples attention, but only the girl turned. Still, I liked this couple.

First two of Robert Colameco and both from Dorus Oshiva are outstanding in my opinion. This without prejudice to many other remarkable ones in this POW.
Mine was a attempt to create a geometrical pattern with the dog somewhere in the middle. The picture didn't produce sufficient contrast.

00VwNF-226879684.jpg.1e826dd45ba4b37f3b5c2605944dce37.jpg

Nice stuff again. I love the light on robert's paving stones!
And ME's icicles make a great pattern.

I got a chance to mess around with that Vivitar 2x macro focusing TC and my SMC A 50 f/1.7.

Yeah, I would echo the praise for robert's shots, some of the best I've seen from you (and that is saying something!). Ronny, that lentar lens sounds like a good trick - and the results are much nicer than anything I have ever got out of that brand. Maybe they saved their good stuff for Nikon?

I finally got a roll of Fuji BW developed from my *ist, all taken with the FA 28-70 or the F 35-70. This is my favorite; older daughter lost her first tooth, younger daughter wanted to be in the shot. A not-totally-loving embrace.

We took some out of town visitors to the Wild Bird Kingdom aviary in Niagara Falls, Ontario this weekend. I spent a good hour taking blurry bird pictures in less than adequate light. A few turned out OK. Both are taken with the K200D and Sigma 70-300 APO DG.

00VwXe-226987584.jpg.cdd89ce87778963a0d48765b575bab83.jpg

Wow, thanks for all the nice comments. I should have mentioned that the cobblestone shot was taken with the K20D and the Sigma 17-35mm lens, iso 200, f/10 and 1/320. The other two were taken with a Canon 50D, 85mm lens.
My favorites for the week are Ben's dog shot, both of Dorus's, DC's cat shot and Haig's mountain shot. And, of course, your girl's Nick, cute as ever, even with a tooth missing.

A really fun collection this week--I especially like that lizard! In addition to fawning over crocus, I've turned my macros on the aging snow (or "cloud poop," as I've come to refer to it.) Actually, we were lucky to have an unusually gradual melt and I've had time to appreciate its changing textures.
