john_a5
You need CS4 for that camera, unfortunately. Fortunately, Canon's own software will open the files and do a good job fixing distortion, chromatic aberration etc.
howard_m
or use the Adobe DNG converter but CS3 will never directly open the raw file. Adobe stops adding support to PS the microsecond that the next version of PS is released.
dbcooper

"i have a canon g11 camera. i cannot convert the raw files using the adobe raw converter."

Correct. The version of ACR 'married to' PS CS3 cannot be upgraded past v4.6. Since that's older than the G11, it won't work. RAW files are camera-specific, even though the file extension may be the same.

As mentioned, you can update to PS CS4 (the latest ACR 5.6 will work), or use another RAW converter like Howard said. Lightroom 2.6 will also work. If you have any version of LR2, the update should be free (Adobe will, however, charge LR2.x owners to upgrade to LR3 when it's released).
inna_shashkova
Personally me, I have Canon EOS 400D and I have come across the reliable and cheap software
A good raw viewer and converter is DPmagic Plus http://www.dpmagic.com/products.php or you can use the RAW -Foto-Software DPmagic Mini Lab. Both software versions open the raw files as easy as jpegs
