mike_gendimenico
I have a 5D and a 580EX flash, but have been looking at some smaller flashes just to have some kind of basic flash when travelling when I don't need the big 580EX. I'm looking at the new Canon 270, but don't care for the strobe type pre-flash. I came across the Sunpak RD2000 for just $79, so would like to get some opinions on it.
Thanks!
richard_crowe4
I was considering both the Sunpak and the 270EX and although the price of the Sunpak is certainly better; I decided on the 270EX mainly because it has high speed sync capability. I use the 270EX primarily as flash fill and the HSS allows me to shoot outdoors at over 1/250 second if I desire. I use the 270EX with a Joe Demb Flip-It Junior diffuser/reflector. the Flip-It Junior really improves the versatility of the 270EX and would, I suppose, be an equally valuable aset to the Sunpak.
chris_clarke3
The 270 is great as a fill in or good enough for bounce flash in a house etc. It's small, well made and is really small! I love it.
Spearhead
I'd be interested to hear on the RD2000 as well. I can't use a strobe pre-flash in many situations.
Music and Portraits Blog: Life in Portugal
