dspindle
I just purchased a used D70s. Very pleased with the camera, but as it came with one battery, I want to buy a back-up. The EN-EL3a is what I have now. Should I get another, or get the EN-EL3e? The specs and price on both seem to be the same, although the "e" is called the newer version.
Thank you
Dave.
pete_s.
The e-version is compatible with the newer cameras (it has a chip inside) but that doesn't make a difference in the D70s. So if price is ismilar get the EN-EL3E if you ever buy a newer camera.
nsfbr
Yes, get the grey e version.

And by the way, the D70 is the stingiest user of battery power they've ever made. If the battery is healthy, it will last many hundreds of images per charge.
kohanmike
I have two D70s bodies and I'm amazed at how long the batteries last. I have an extra Lenmar but rarely have to use it (although when I do, it lasts long also).

julian_sanchez1
Ditto on the battery usage. Sometimes I think the battery meter on the upper display is broken since it never shows a decrease in charge no matter how many images I shoot, but *eventually* it starts showing some usage :)
Wonderful camera, I couldn't be happier with it either. Bought it used for $250 and it's the best purchase I've ever done. I hope you enjoy yours just as much.
Cheers,
Julian
