wtlwdwgn
I received a used 1D Mk II N today and I'm trying to charge the battery. When I first connect the battery to the charger the charging light is red. After a short while both the charging and reset lights begin to do a fast blink. The body does not turn on with the battery installed and the empty battery symbol blinks. Is the battery dead, need resetting, or just need more time to charge?
scott_ferris
Steve,

Sounds like the battery is dead to me. You should be able to do a refresh by pressing the button, then the orange light comes on for a few hours then it charges. Try both charging leads though, I have one charger that only works on one lead.
wtlwdwgn
Thanks for the info Scott. I'll try the other lead and then a refresh and then a call to Adorama.
dougolupski
Just as an FYI the refresh can take up to ten hours. It will go solid orange and when it finishes the refresh if will flip to solid red to charge and blink when done. I know this pain because it took a full night and day over the weekend to refresh my two 1D batteries. Good Luck.
wtlwdwgn
The battery doesn't respond to the refresh button. The charge and refresh lights just continually flash.
scott_ferris
Hmm,

Haven't had that Steve, even with pretty bad batteries. Best thing to do though is get a $29.95 copy and try that in your charger. Keep the dead Canon battery though and swap the endcap with the copy, the seals are normally much better on the Canon ones, it is just the two phillips screws on the top.
