Matt Laur
The factory uses a double-sided adhesive material, like tape. You migh consider, though, simply ordering a replacement grip from Nikon. They're very easy to replace, and not at all expensive. I replaced all of my D200's rubber surfaces after several years of abusing them, and it cost around $40, if I recall, and took about 15 minutes. Looks nice and fresh, now!
richard_westlake
Matt, when you ordered your replacement grip, did it come with application tape or something else to adhere it to the camera body?

Michael R Freeman

"did it come with application tape or something else ..."

The replacement grips come with the double sided adhesive tape already attached to the rubber. You just peel the release paper from the tape and then fit the rubber to the body. The piece for the hand grip has many different pieces of adhesive tape ... I don't recall exactly but it must have been close to 20 individual pieces of adhesive for the D200 grip.
Matt Laur
As Michael says, everything's ready to go and perfectly placed on the new grip. You just need to peel the old one off, scrap away any left-over adhesive, and you'll be done before you know. It's so simple, a photographer could do it.
