alan_swartz
We took a couple of hours on a chilly, wet Saturday to tour the antique "malls" in a little town nearby. Santa was the stores' theme of the day, and I was struck by the contrast between the joy of the cardboard St. Nicks and the decay of the immediate area, where these antique shops are the only life left in an entire Main Street business district. The town has tried to bolster them, with new ADA sidewalks and handrails, but the buildings are disintegrating and most had no heat; the gas pipes were hanging without their meters in the alleyways. Unfortunately, I didn't get any images strong enough to really make an essay of the contrast. The glowing "open" sign and welcoming smiles beckoned to a nearly deserted street.

T90, 50mm f/1.2L, Velvia 50...not enough light for the polarizer.
