john_neugebauer
Moved from Beginner Forum.

Hello, Just got my Pentax 67, I like to do night sky and long exposures. I have read in posts that there is a Mod performed by Pentax to eliminate the battery. Can someone explain this to me. Will the MLU still operate the regular way when not shooting long exposures? Is it a electrical Mod or maybe just a button intstalled? :) Does Pentax still do this Mod and if so what is the cost? Is it worth it or am I better off fabricating a remote "rechargeable" battery. BTW removing the battery after the shutter is tripped won't help because the mirror will fall as soon as voltage is removed. Thanks much!
greg_peterson3
I'd suggest that you post this on the Medium Format forum. Lots of Pentax 67 users lurk there.
stemked
I doubt Pentax will do it anymore. However, there are likely some old salts who can still do it. Hopefully someone in here can toss you a name.
nealcurrie
Try asking Eric Hendrickson of www.pentaxs.com if he can do it. He is very very good with Pentax gear. (Doug, you ever get your LX fixed that I bought from you, but had a shutter speed problem?)
jonathan_schwartz3
While I have not used this product, I note that it is used in astrophotography to lock up the Pentax 6x7 mirror for long exposures:
http://www.sciencecenter.net/hutech/pentax/use.htm
